Preparing for your wax
For best results:
Hair should generally be long enough for the wax to grip, around 1/4 inch.
Avoid aggressive exfoliation immediately before your appointment.
Let us know if you use tretinoin, retinoids, acids, or prescription skincare.
Avoid waxing skin that is irritated, sunburned, or compromised.
After your wax
Keep the area clean and avoid excessive heat, friction, sweating, and aggressive exfoliation immediately afterward.
Once the skin has settled, regular gentle exfoliation can help reduce ingrown hairs.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
About 1/4 inch is a good general guideline, usually around 2–3 weeks of growth depending on the area and your hair.
-
Waxing can be uncomfortable, especially the first time, but the sensation is brief. Regular waxing can become easier as you get used to the process.
-
This is especially important for facial waxing. Tretinoin and other retinoids can make skin more fragile and increase the risk of lifting or irritation. Always tell your provider what you are using before waxing.
-
For many body-waxing services, every 4–6 weeks is common, but timing varies by growth cycle and area.
-
You can, but shaving interrupts the waxing cycle and may make it harder to maintain consistent results. If you want to stay on a waxing schedule, it is usually better to let the hair grow between appointments.
-
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid excess heat, friction, hot tubs, saunas, intense workouts, and anything else likely to irritate freshly waxed skin.
-
Gentle exfoliation, hydration, and avoiding tight friction-heavy clothing can help. Do not aggressively scrub immediately after waxing.
Smooth skin. No weirdness.
